There are many routes to health, peace and harmony. Many methods focus on just one aspect of being human, the emotional, the physical or the mental. It is unusual to find an approach that works with all of these aspects. I believe it is important to integrate the mind, body and emotions for holistic health.
Body Balance is a person-centred approach, meaning that you are accepted, and learn to accept yourself, as you are, right now. With acceptance comes the possibility of change and the chance to set out on your own voyage of self-discovery.
I have drawn from a number of teaching and coaching techniques to help people reconnect their mind with their body, emotions and self (spirit). Body Balance offers a range of effective tools that include optimum nutrition education and holistic lifestyle support, and transformational coaching which draws on aspects of CBT (cognitive behavioural therapy), TA (transactional analysis), ancient mysticism, eastern philosophies and healing, and guided visualisations.

Body Balance has evolved
When I launched Body Balance in October 2004, my concept was a group weight management programme that tackled WHY people ate as well as WHAT they ate. I have found that if someone can’t lose and maintain a healthy weight by eating sensibly there are usually much deeper issues to be resolved. Eating and drinking inappropriately are often a way of avoiding facing uncomfortable feelings, such as low self worth, loneliness, emptiness, anger, sadness, fear and anxiety.
Oh how far I and the programme have come!
While most people come to Body Balance because of food and self image issues, with continuing development and hundreds of clients later, this approach has evolved. It now has much less to do with weight management and is much more about self-realisation through optimum physical, mental and emotional balance.
While some people still come to learn about their weight and the reasons for over eating, the programme has developed much more into a stepping off point for those who want to follow their path to personal and spiritual growth.
