There are many routes to health, peace and harmony. Many methods focus on just one aspect of being human: the emotional, the physical or the mental. It is unusual to find an approach that works with all of these aspects. I believe it is important to integrate the mind, body and emotions for holistic health and wellbeing.
Mine is a person-centred approach, meaning that you are accepted, and learn to accept yourself, as you are, right now. With acceptance comes the possibility of change and the chance to set out on your own voyage of self-discovery.
Having learnt my coaching expertise from two fabulous and highly talented women, one a Psychotherapist and the other an amazing Self Mastery Coach, I now draw from a number of transformational coaching techniques that include self-mastery, mindfulness, guided visualisations (guided meditations with a purpose), and ancient philosophies and healing.
All this in addition to Optimum Nutrition and holistic lifestyle support, which is my first passion and which for me is an integral part of any health, wellbeing and personal growth work.
Evolution to living a conscious life
When I launched Body Balance in October 2004, my concept was a group weight management programme that tackled WHY people ate as well as WHAT they ate. I believe that if someone can't lose and maintain a healthy weight by eating sensibly then there are usually much deeper issues to be resolved. While there may certainly be biochemical imbalances that must be addressed through nutritional changes, more often it is emotional eating and drinking that causes weight gain. Comfort eating and drinking are usually a way of avoiding dealing with uncomfortable feelings, such as low self worth, guilt, loneliness, emptiness, anger, sadness, fear and anxiety. These behaviours are learned and can be unlearned.
Once someone understands how the ego mind and programmed conditioning keep them trapped in the same old thought and behaviour patterns, they have two choices. One is to stay as they are, going around and around on the same old treadmill, feeling stuck. The other is to let go of the old programming, and evolve emotionally and spiritually. (Spirituality in this context has nothing to do with organised religion, which is a man made construct, and much more about getting in touch with who we really are).
The original Body Balance programme helped people to let go of self-destructive eating patterns and return to a healthy weight without feeling deprived. Over the years I have developed and evolved the original programme so that it is now a programme of personal and spritual growth.
This gradual evolution began with a startling revelation in my own life.
A guiding hand
Yet here I am in 2012, helping women (and men who are in touch with their feminine side) to become conscious of who they really are.
During that time my path took me through a burn out and chronic fatigue syndrome following removal of my amalgam fillings in 2007. I had a strong sense of 'knowing' that I was being guided and supported. I had been on the wrong path with purely weight management. Others could pick up that baton and do it just as well, if not better than I could.
As I started helping women and men raise their self-awareness I knew that this was what I was meant to be doing after all!
The soul reader was right.
